what? lol

10 characters...

I wouldnt even call USC and Emory similar...I'm not just trying to hate on you either...it's just that they arent very similar schools

depends on what youre looking for. for me they were very simlilar.

USC: top 50 (31 i believe), big city, top 20 undergrad business (10 i beleive), far away, nice weather, lots of students (20k +), good to very good possibility of being accepted, beautiful campus, lots of surrounding schools, family and friends near by.

Emory: top 50 (19), big city, top 20 undergrad business (14 i believe), far away, nice weather, lots of students (12k +), good possibilty of being accepted, beautiful campus, lots of surrounding schools, family and friends near by.

in my view they were very similar.

I don't know why you are even comparing USC to Emory.. to be honest, I see more similarities between GA Tech with Emory than USC.
They both have the same weather, same town , both top 50 , everything you mentioned. (tech more ppl) and so on. Oh wait so Tech is similar to USC.

USC is just not similar to Emory.

PS dommerge aren't you the guy who told me to.... yea I am not condescending just a random hypocritic ignorant.

its hard to say a safety like emory because the reason emory is not a safety is because too many people want to go there because there really isnt a lot like it (ESP ga tech. boo yellow jackets, go dawgs (uga))

3 because's in a single sentence? not to mention your sentence makes no sense.

it makes sense:
its hard to say "a safety like emory." (referring back to the comparison b/w USC and emory) the reason emory is not a safety is because too many people want to go there. A lot of people want to go to Emory because Emory is unique. GA tech is especially not anything like Emory. Boo yellow jackets. Go Dawgs (UGA's mascot)

I don't know about atmosphere, but University of Rochester and Case Western Reserve University are similar to Emory in terms of academics. They all have great med programs.

Let's see.. as a future emoryite I shall defend my school. FIRST of all, why are people comparing emory to case and the below top 30 schools? Emory is in the top 20~! (if considering ranks important)
Also, emory is a much better school just because it is and you should know it. What other schools pays you for doing a random research by your sophomore year? Emory rulz and that's it. GO EMORY WHOOT~!

True story: I suggested College of Charleston to two people whose kids were hot on Emory as safeties, not so much similar, but as two non football type schools in a southern city. Their kids both dumped Emory for CofCh where they are now. They fell in love upon visiting and that was it. Take a look at Goucher, American, Elon, Sewanee, Rhodes, Richmond as well.

Yea why not go to Devry? Devry is really a nice school you know. They will provide with all the skills you need to get a job and so on.

thanks guys. wogus-- remember the topic of this post was emory SAFETIES... meaning schools that arent necessarily quite as high on the list as emory but could be places i would def get into if for some awful reason i dont get into emory... ya know?? (though in this day and age i kind of wonder if there are ANY schools that are a sure thing!!)

haha thanks cookie monster for the translation. it was 1:30 AM when i wrote that, thats my excuse.

I believe the OP asked if there was a school similar to Emory that was easier to get into.

The main reason Case isn't ranked higher is because it doesn't do much for students lives. The atmosphere there is not as good as it is with Emory. The education there is great. Case, also, "throws" money at research. Also, many internships are available if you're so inclined. You can get a great education at Case if you want to.

whats the atmosphere at case like?

We were comparing Emory to schools Top 30 and below because we were discussing safety schools, as the name of the thread discretely implies...A safety school is one with a similar feel and academic interests, but not as hard to get in to....

yeah i know really.

haha, come on guys, there were asterisks.

There's not much for students to do. Sure, they're are intramural sports and stuff, but the students aren't as enthusiastic. They don't have a movie theatre like Emory or University of Chicago. But I hear they're improving on the atmosphere. It's really what you make of it.

yeah i see what you mean.

also, yulsie, still waiting for you to elaborate on your statement--

"Note to applicants: If you are a dedicated Christian, you would probably like the town of Lynchburg, but others should be wary."

why?

ps. does anyone know how to do that thing where you make a quote box? like smartaleck123 did?
