We get finalist notifications on February 23. Two more weeks!

I was recently selected as an Emory Scholars semi-finalist, and I’m waiting to see if I am a finalist. Emory is my top choice, although I have applied to 19 schools. I’m anxious to hear about the decision, as it may be my only chance of actually attending Emory as an undergraduate.

I do have a question about the interview weekend, though… my senior prom is on that friday night. If I am selected as a finalist, I know I am required to attend the interview weekend, and I definitely plan to do so if I’m chosen. I was wondering if there was any way I could go to the interviews and possibly leave to go to prom for a few hours… Luckily, the place my high school is having prom is about 10 minutes away from Emory. Do you think that is even a possibility? Prom is from 8-10 and I don’t intend to go to any after parties or anything like that… I just don’t want to miss my senior prom. Anyone have any ideas?

Has anyone found a description from previous years, or a link with the schedule of what actually happens during Finalist weekend?

Well never mind. ^^

My DD just got an email saying she was not selected as a Goizueta finalist. No idea if this is the end of the line, or if she might still receive one of the smaller awards ($13k-17k). She’s going to write back and ask.

We find out emory scholars notification by the end of this week. I think only guizueta let people know early cause I got that second email about it

How many finalists will there be? Will Emory pay to fly them out for the interview? Does anyone know if you will need to be there for the entire time or is it possible to be there just for the actual interview?

Could you please post your stats? Have you received other scholarships or admitted to other schools? Thanks.

@CC congrats! Where did you find out about finalist status…I didn’t see it under announcements…

Hi all - I haven’t posted before but read regularly. My son was notified via email today that he is a Finalist. Won’t post all of his stats but thought I would share that he is accepted to Harvard EA and likely letter from Yale. Emory will pay for all travel expenses for the Scholars Weekend. The information he received states that you DO have to stay the entire weekend to remain eligible for any scholarships. Congratulations to those who have made it!! To those who do not, please keep your head up - all of you amaze me with your ability and drive - you will be successful anywhere you land!!

S received Liberal Arts Scholarship for $15,000/year. Very happy!

I’m a finalist for a full ride at Emory. If I don’t get the full ride, what kind of merit aid can I expect?

Got a 13K a year scholarship. Grateful, but probably not enough to get me to go to Emory over USC with half tuition. Maybe Oxford Scholars will work out better. Congrats to all who made it!!

Did anyone else NOT get an email from Emory?? Kinda freaking…

Any word on partial scholarships for Goizueta semifinalists who did not advance to finalist? It looks like maybe unlike Emory Scholars, where semifinalists have a shot at partial scholarships, Goizueta is all or nothing. Or maybe I’m mistaken?

Just to make sure: If I was selected as an Emory finalist for their scholarship and I fly to Georgia and stay overnight on their expense and go through interviews, I still have the choice NOT have to accept their offer of admission, right?

And that’s true even if I do get one of the scholarships?
