Emory Scholars 2013

Who else applied?

I did! I’m from the Midwest. I plan on majoring in Creative Writing and Neuroscience (Pre-Med), and running for the XC/Track teams. What are you interested in?

That’s so weird I also want to study neuroscience and run cross country! I’m from California, though.

Haha wow, that’s so cool. How was your season?

I applied as well. Bio/pre-med. I think I should go ahead and create an OPUS account haha. It’s been like 3-4 weeks since I submitted the scholars app?

@premedpoet it was okay…i actually only started xc this year so i’m not very good i’m hoping to get much better in college

collapsingspace, that’s still great (you love it enough to continue in college, which says a lot!). We could be teammates! My season ended on a pretty mixed note, I was feeling good and even winning a few meets, but I fell short at State. I still led my team to a great finish, which was awesome, but I didn’t hit my personal goals.
So what got you interested in neuroscience? I went to a neuro research program over the summer and it seems like people interested in the field always have really interesting stories.

I applied too. From VA, and hopefully premed  But nobody’s been contacted for interviews yet, right?

I did as well! From Tennessee, a finance major. I doubt I’m spectacular enough to dazzle them, but it was worth a shot. I did Goizueta Scholars as well.

I applied! From GA. we probably won’t get notified until January or February as interviews are usually in March.

I applied for both. Unfortunately, looking back I think my essays were a little lack-luster. Hopefully my stats pull me through:/

Also, it seems like around Jan 20th for Scholars, Jan 31st for Goizueta.

Emory Scholars talk for Class of 2013 seems pretty quiet for now . . .

I agree with treyarchfan—this opportunity is really freaking exciting! For me, finding out January 20th about semifinalist status would actually be my first acceptance
I also sorta feel weird about how there are no in-between interviews for the group pool–> semifinalists–> finalists steps. Then again, it’s somewhat freeing to know that it’s all out of my control!

We find out jan 20th? By mail or email?

As far as I can tell, last year they all got e-mails the morning of January 20th telling them to all log on OPUS at 7 PM for the decision. A paper copy was sent that date as well.

I applied! from Mississippi. don’t know what I would major in exactly but I do want to end up somewhere in medicine!

does anyone know if people that are rejected from the program have a strong chance of getting into emory regular decision?

I don’t think your decision is contingent in any way with emory scholars

I applied, and I’m from GA too! How do you know we get notified on the 20th? Emory’s website only says, “Late January.”
