Do Emory Scholars have to keep a certain GPA to keep their scholarship?

Just wondering. Thanks

Are any of you (Scholar Applicant’s) recruited athletes? If so, what sport(s)?

cbrochill, they do indeed

cb: yeah i believe it’s a 3.2? or something like that?
for some reason 3.2 sounds oddly familiar…

I’m hoping, but looking at the kids who get it, I probably won’t even make semi. I haven’t cured cancer, gone to Darfur or anything like that! Seriously, these are unbelievable kids that get it. How do they find the time???

lol, well none of them have cured cancer yet.
unless “I am Legend” is coming to life to haunt me?

and just so you know, I’m in a research magnet where some of my friends
have done amazing reserach projects (where they bsed their results or had planned out really well so that there was no glitch and research took all of 3 weeks) and are president of loads of crap (of which they usually don’t evenknow the meeting times for). a lot of these kids who are overloaded (not saying everyone who has great ec’s is like this) are actually great procrastinatros who get titles because they have the friends and grades, but they don’t actually care about being president of beta club or national honor society. so these titles don’t detract any time at all from what they do.

me on the other hand, has chosen to shun conforming to school clubs all through hs, which is now biting me in the butt because I’m not very involved in my school

I’m giving it a shot, but I’d really rather go through Oxford if I attend Emory. I wanted the small-college experience more. (I applied Early Action to Oxford because I had to have the application in for the Emory Scholars application in anyway and it wasn’t binding, and I know I got in there, so…) I also checked for Oxford Scholars and probably have a much higher chance there.

Not an athlete of anything, by the way.

Dude, Emory is pretty small-college by itself…

aznnincompoop, yeah that’s pretty much accurate. oh well, you play the game, play the game

haha so you gotta be balla

hey so i guess they are coming out like in about a week or so, if this year is like last

Does anybody know for sure if, like some other year, all semi-finalists generally get the 10-14K(?) Liberal Arts scholarships, even if they do not advance to finalist? I’m pretty sure I’m not getting finalist status, but maybe, just maybe, I could get semi, and it’d be nice to know whether that’ll translate into any money or not, without waiting for months.

According to the website, of the 400 semifinalists, 75 become finalist, and 75 get other smaller scholarships. That leaves 250 sad semifinalists.

25 finalists receive a full ride
50 (the remainder of the finalists) receive full tuition
100 (the other “Emory Scholars” along with those listed above) get 2/3 tuition
175 receive a "Liberal Arts Scholarship ’ (worth 10, 12, or 14k/y depending)

^ This was posted in the 2011 Emory Scholars thread by curious14 and others seemed to agree that these numbers are roughly correct.

For some reason I can’t find any information on Emory’s site about the Liberal Arts Scholarships, but I’m assuming that, yes, semi-finalist status pretty much guarantees you something unofficially. I think there are actually 350 semifinalists, not 400, which is probably just a rounded number from Emory.

Good luck everybody. Only a week and a half to go, unless things have changed since last year.

haha hopefully, it hasn’t! hmm maybe someone knows the date from years previous and can clarify whether this jan. 16 ish date is historical?

and on that note…how did people last year know it was coming out on the 16th since no one knows this year? hmmm…
