Emory Scholars notification...

When does everyone think that will happen, eh?

From the website I would think in the next two weeks. Do you know what they base the selection of the top 350?

how sexy you are

Good to know, thanks

You wouldn't think it would be sooner considering last year they were up by Jan. 13?

Just trying not to stress out to much about it. My S would just like to know he got in to a college:) All his friends are hearing from places but he only applied to very selective schools and won't hear a thing until April 1. We keep joking that he may need to be at fifth year senior in high school :P lol

i would say it will be posted sometime this week on opus. mid-next week at the latest.

On opus, would it just say "you've been accepted" or explicitly mention the Scholars program? Also, (this is one thing I never cleared up), when you are notified of being a Semifinalist, are you also notified of any awards at that time too, or do you only find out how much they are giving you after you make it as far as you go (for example, if you don't become a finalist, you find out money when you are notified you aren't a finalist). I know some schools will tell you you won X as a start, and then as the process continues, the amount of money that will be given to you is altered.

I am so excited/anxious to hear back. Knowing about Emory Scholars would help make next week (my midterms) a lot more bearable. :-)

I searched this forum for information from the last couple of years. Last year, notification of making semifinalist was posted on January 12, but the year before on January 16. Then, about the middle of February, students were notified whether they had made finalist; these are the students who are invited to Scholars Weekend to interview for the full tuition or full ride awards. At that time, semifinalists not selected as finalists are also notified that they were awarded either 2/3 tuition (John Emory Scholar) or a Liberal Arts Scholarship (roughly in the $10-$15k range).

notification will be this week, i guess.. but we have a problem concerning my D's application: we received an email 2 days ago telling that my D's councelor forgot to sign a form from the scholars appl and that my D has to hurry to fix the problem otherwise she will not be considered for the sholars!! too sad... i hope everything will turn fine this week! i cross my finger! good luck everybody!

Wow that soon...I was thinking end of Jan but didn't know. Now I'm nervous. Do they notify you by email or snail mail? Or just on your Emory account? Good luck guys! Would love to know I got in somewhere!

For EDI'ers the website said after January 15th, so I'm guessing it could be as early as this week?

ah im so nervous! ive been checking pretty much every day. for the ppl who dont get it, are they notified on the website as well?

Yea, I think for people who don't get in, they'll still be notified along with everyone else

Do u guys think that being nonated for a scholar will benefit you in the regular admission process? I only ask because I really don't think I will be a semi, so I was just wondering if being nominated would help me out

they'll most likely snail mail you the notification too but you won't get it as soon.

if you don't get it, it will still be on opus eventually... but they may not be posted at the same time.

GuitarRcker...it will say you are a semi-finalist. it won't just say "you've been accepted". also it won't tell you your award at that time. you have to wait for that.

C Chan I think it will help you but only in the sense that if you are smart enough to be nominated for scholars, it will show through the rest of your application. The "emory scholars nominee" fact won't be enough by itself, and keep in mind that someone else at another school who was #5 or something (so they couldnt get nominated) could still have better stats than you. In that case, the fact that you were nominated doesn't really matter. You should have an advantage though, if you had good enough stats to get nominated :) good luck

Ha i've actually been checking cc instead of opus b/c I figure there'll be a flurry of posts here when it happens :)

Same here, lol.

i got an email saying that everything had to be turned in for emory scholars by jan. 12th so i'm guessing they're starting to read applications this week

On the Emory website, it says all Scholars notifications will come through the USPS .. are we sure it will really be posted on OPUS?? Also, does anyone know about the Goizeuta Scholars program? I applied to both and don't know if I should expect responses on the same day or what!
