Emory Transfer Credits

Is Emory really as picky about transfer credits as their website makes them appear? I plugged in my fall courses and my grades (all A's) into their site, and it said I wouldn't get credit for any of the courses. That seems a little weird to me, since all my classes were common core classes like macro economics, philosophy, sociology, math modeling, health, and then a freshman seminar. I could see why the freshman seminar wouldn't transfer, and maybe the first three didn't register because their course names were slightly altered since they were honors classes, but I don't understand how math modeling and healthful living wouldn't transfer. I'm thinking that site must not be accurate; otherwise, it'd be almost pointless for anyone to transfer.

Well, yeah, the site is probably having a computer search for equivalents. What will likely happen is actual admissions officers will do a review and then try to look for Emory equivalents or see if they can at least give you some random elective/GER credit to count toward graduation. If that doesn’t work, and you come to Emory, you can also go to department heads with a syllabus to try to convince them that it is a course that is relevant to the dept or comparable to another course w/in the dept.

I figured they would have an actual person go over your transcript when you’re actually transferring, but is it really likely that I won’t get any credit for these?

I’m sure you’ll get some.

As far as I’m aware, Emory doesn’t have a site where you can plug in your courses to see what credit you might receive. Could you provide us a link?

Emory is very generous with transfer credit, compared to other top schools.

I was mistaken; it isn’t part of Emory’s website, but they do link to it:
[Will my Credits Transfer - Map](<a href=“Will my Credits Transfer - Map”>Will my Credits Transfer - Map)

I entered credit from institutions Emory has already granted me transfer credit from and the site said I wouldn’t get anything.

If you message me the courses, I can give you some indication of what you might be looking at in terms of credit.

Ah, I figured there must be something screwy with that website. I’ll send them to you; thanks!
