AP Credits?

I will be attending emory university this fall as a freshman. i have received 5's on my calculus and science AP exams, and i plan to trasnfer for sophomore yr closer to home ( new york), and to a school with engineering (biomedical or chemical). If planning on and attempt to transfer to an ivy, would it look unfavorable to retake these courses? or should i plow ahead and start off with organic chemistry and advanced calculus? thank you for any opinions-i would like to retake them for an even stronger basis in mathematics and science, however, since transfer students are required to send their high school transcripts, i dont want to appear as if i am just taking an easy "a" ( though this would be an added benefit.

Dude, you got a 5 on both the calculus and science AP exams, I say go for it. I have no doubt that you will excel in those two GE courses.

If you really don't think you can handle it (which is unlikely), drop it.

go for it as in take them over again and do verry well while strengthening the basis?

Sorry about that. Take organic chemistry and advanced calculus.

thanks for the input- in the event that i didnt though, would that look bad with regard to transfering to an ivy or higher school?

On the condition you don't receive a substandard grade, absolutely not. It will only show that you've reinforced basic concepts and are ready for the rigors (if you can call HYPS that with their grade inflation) of upper-division study.

Some people may wonder why you turned down an opportunity to challenge yourself though.

true true-thanks though...i have time to think before choosing classes begins thank goodness :)

So... you already know you want to transfer... before attending Emory for a single day. Way to contribute to the Emory stereotype.

1) what is the emory stereotype?

2) how can you judge the situation?
i didnt get into my top choices (close to home, ny) and i decided to pick the school with the best academic rep that i got into...i am very close to my family and want to be within driving distance...additionally, even though i plan on attending medical school i'd like to major in engineering i decided (bio or chemical) and emory doesnt have that at the school, they have something with GA tech that takes 5 yrs...lastly, i would like the option to go to classes all year, and if i was closer to home ie yale, columbia, i could do that.

thanks for your helpful input that had nothing to do with the question i originally posted there

Bitter ivy reject. I'm not judging... just pointing out a fact. In response to your question, however, get the highest GPA possible (instead of playing with fire, per se, with a class like organic chem.).

thank you-and i'm not bitter i'm going to make the best of it...i just changed my mind about my major and want to be closer to fam...thanks for the reply
