I was a freshman at Emory in the Fall of '08 but I took a leave of absence after only one semester in December of '08 due to my mother's failing health. I have garnered roughly 40 credits in a quarter based system at a local CC in my hometown. I now wish to return to Emory but I want my classes to count towards my degree because I just don't want to repeat the last two years. lol

I have decided to apply as a transfer student for the upcoming Spring semester so my classes will hopefully count.

Does anyone know the stats on transfers being accepted? Or students being readmitted?

The transfer page only really offers information on how to apply and when to expect a decision.

I think it’s about the same percentage + 6-10% of the freshmen applicants. However, an article of the Wheel or Report (I forget) indicates that they are perhaps considering admitting much more transfers.

I heard its much higher for transfers. A few years ago it was ~33%. Of course, it has dropped over the years, but not by much.

Why don’t you phone them, or phone your counselor you had your freshman year? I am sure you can work something out since you left do to your mother’s health.

Have you talked with someone in 300 White Hall? You may not have to reapply. I don’t know what’s normal procedure in this situation, but they may just allow you to return, since you’ve already matriculated. Just a suggestion.

I don’t consider 33-34% much higher considering that we normally admit 26-30% and that the amount of transfer applications is significantly lower. It would have to be 40+ (perhaps 45+) for me to consider it much higher, or the amount of transfer applications would have to be higher.
