Anyone know about the acceptance rate to go from Emory Undergrad to Emory Med? Do they prefer Emory students when looking at their applications?

The only one who could tell you that would be the emory med school admissions office. They aren’t likely to share, however. Students in general have an edge with their home medical school, but it is typically due to the fact they are familiar with the average caliber of students and many of their EC’s and letter writers.

Emory Med does not favor their own. I know someone who earned a 3.86 at Emory with a MCAT score of 34 and did not even get an interview. Just shows that they do not value their own undergraduate education.

Or, maybe they knew the dude and he was an ? With a sample of one, you never can be too sure. ;)

3.86/34 is not that impressive for such a top Med. School. I bet it is the reason, as the name of UG is not the top criteria in general. My D. had a bit higher in both and tons of ECs and is a good at interviews is they only give her a chance. Well, she did not get invited to interview at school lower ranked than Emory, not a peep from them. While it does not answer your question directly, it is another proof that all is the matter is the stats should amtch to Med. School and 3.86/34 was considered below thier radar as well as my D’s stats were considered below the radar of school that did not invite her. I am sure that if she only had a chance to be at interview, she would have won them over. But the fact is, they do not invite below certain mark, period, their own or not might make a slight diff., but not much.
