@sam324
Well as you know applying as pre-med would make it harder on you. Also having no hooks and being from NJ will hurt you some as well. And it seems your school is competitive, so that might be an issue. I would say its closer to a Reach, but other than your SAT score is a little lower than avg, I don’t see anything wrong. Your GPA is great, SAT 2 scores are great, EC’s , good too. I can’t see your essays or Teacher rec’s , you just have a few things working against you.
Good Luck.
Did you also ED to Oxford.
A 1450 is not lower than average at Emory.
I did not want to be considered for Oxford. Thank You!
@collegemom9
Emory did a press release saying the avg was 1480 and the median was 1500. A 1450 is well within the middle 50%.
Do you have a link to this press release?
I have seen a press release saying the median admitted student was a 1500 (Based on SAT scores and ACT equivalent). But I haven’t seen one with Emory’s average student score.

Almost 2 days everyone!
The enrolled students information for Class of 2022 gets released when Emory releases its Common Data Set. Class of 2021 Common Data Set was released in late April of this year. I doubt there is much of a difference between a 1450 or a 1480. It’s not significant in a holistic process and certainly has even less correlation as a predictor of success at the college level.
@sam324 : We are not really qualified to chance you, but one could say that your chances are solid for ED1 just statistically (I basically look at RD stats and subtract 40 from each end of the IQR and determine based on that), and would have been lesser so for RD which could be said for anyone, but especially in this case because your ECs will just “blend in” with the other qualified applicants. Did you write about the actual research experience you had. The adcoms may actually like that if you wrote about it well and revealed some passion about it.
@emorynavy I did take APs : AP Chem , AP Lang and AP world. I got a 4 on Lang and a 3 in world.
@emorynavy I also did two dual enrollment courses, microeconomics and cultural anthropology and got As in both
Less than 24 hours!
Very well, my interviewer ended up being my neighbors big from Emory so we bonded a lot over that and among other things. I hope I get in!
Y’all Ready?!!!
14 minutes!
Last year, 503 of 1470 ED1/Questbridge were admitted (Emory College - not Oxford). It will be interesting to see what the number will be for this year. 503 led to a record breaking class size. This might provide a good indication of Emory stays on that path or goes in the other direction.
Oh, good luck to all.
I’m at Panera bread right now. And 2 high school students just got IN!
Must have been nice to see.
Accepted!! Im so happy
@ljberkow
