Emory vs Macaulay Honors

So i got into both Emory and Macaulay Honors @ Brooklyn college.

I cannot seem to decide on a final decision and both schools have its pros.

I plan on majoring in chem and I am thinking about taking the premed track.

Emory is a top notch university with one of the best premed stats out there. I remember reading in Newsweek that it has the highest percentage of acceptances into med school. Overall it is a great university. Emory gave me a scholarship but the price is still pretty high.

Macaulay Honors on the other hand gives me a tuition free education, free mac book, $7500 stipend and personal advising.

I at a fork in the road and i have no idea which direction to pick. Thanks in advance for the help.

Can you (and your parents) afford Emory?

My younger D took Macaulay @ Brooklyn College for her Freshman year. She didn’t enjoy living in an apartment and so transferred. But overall it is a great program. Will you be living at home?

definitely Emory because it will pay off in the long run. it’ll be easier to get into a better med school too, and you will have more opportunities with research / volunteer in the med/health field while you are undergrad

@susgeek yes for macaulay i will be living at home. My parents can probably afford it but it will cost a lot of savings.

@ilikepizza when i went to the macaulay open house, an alumni who is currently in med school said she had research opportunities since the start of her freshman year.

Emory owns their own hospital/research institute and they tend to give the volunteering/research to people who go to Emory. also the CDC is next to Emory so that’s a plus. I don’t know enough about the other college but if $ is the #1 issue and the $ Emory gave you is just not enough to go, then I would choose the other college. but if the $ Emory gave you is kinda ok, I would go with it.
