So my choice has come down to these two schools. I plan on doing premed and I know that both Tufts and Emory have excellent premed tracks with very high med school acceptance rates, so can anyone help me decide?

Just tell me whatever comes to mind when you hear Emory vs Tufts =)

Well...what aspects of the two schools are you wanting to know about? Both are known for being academically fantabulous, but in order to help you figure out the best school for YOU (not just universally best), I'd rather you ask more specific questions.

Not true at all, actually...as these schools are pretty much equal when it comes to quality, choose based on where you feel most comfortable, and, if this is important to you, who gives you more money. consider location, makeup of student body, etc. have you visited either of the schools? i would try to get a feel for the campuses before you choose, if you get a chance, and see where you feel like you most fit in.

"social scene and quality of surrounding city"

By far Emory and Atlanta is better than Tufts and Medford. They say that Tufts is within easy reach of Boston, but really who's going to be taking a nice trip to Boston every weekend?

emory kids are definitely preppier, and as for social scene, you really need to decide for yourself...it's true that you probably won't be going out to boston every weekend, but you could, and you don't need a car, whereas with emory it's difficult to get to the heart of atlanta whenever you want unless you or one of your friends has a car...and you have to decide which city you like better...are you more of a southerner or a northeastenrer?

I have to disagree about it being difficult to get to the heart of Atlanta from Emory without a car. You can get anywhere you want very efficiently with MARTA. Right now there's a MARTA bus that runs through Emory Village that takes you to the MARTA train station, from which you can get to the Fox Theatre, Little Five Points, the aquarium, the airport...wherever, for about $2, I believe. However, beginning in the fall there will hopefully be a free Emory shuttle to the MARTA station. Cabs are also widely available, but I find them to be outside my budget. :-)

i do not think emory is more prestigious than tufts. i got into emory but was waitlisted at tufts... anyways, i live in boston and have visted tufts many times and it really is basically in boston and transportation is very easy. i wouldn't be worried about not being IN boston at all. if i hadn't grown up here, i think boston would be an amazing college town (i want to go somewhere new). I have never even been to atlanta so i can't compare the cities, but I can tell you that boston is a great place to be (i'm obviously biased).

Yea I got accepted at Emory but got waitlisted at Tufts...
I've heard that Tufts is better in terms of diversity and ppl of different backgrounds hanging out together and wut not...

As to your question esco, I'd say you cant go wrong wit either scool...my friend is gona graduate next yr and he said some good things bout emory's pre-med program...

My question is this, if anyone can answer: how's the International Studies major at Emory? I really wanted to major in IR at Tufts, but i didnt get in...

i would like to know the same exact same thing, sammo33! i also got into GW which isn't as good as emory overall, but it is known for its political science/IR depts. anyone have some words of wisdom?

I don't know about International Studies in general, but I know the Political Science/International Politics programs are very strong. I'm a Middle Eastern Studies major and I came to Emory largely because of its MES program. I can ask around for you guys. :-)
