I just wanted to hear y'all's thoughts on whether Emory is that much better or equal to UGA Honors as far as Pre-law goes. I know for Pre-Med. Emory blows UGA out of the water, but what about Law? I want to major in political Science, and if they're pretty much on par academically as far as undergraduate goes, isn't it more worth it to go to tuition-free UGA under their awesome Honors Program, or expensive Emory? Then again, I have no clue. Thank you to anyone who can shed a little light on this subject!

I'm still waiting to hear from UGA honors.......

Doesn't Zell Miller teach (or at least guest-lecture) there? Could be interesting for political science.

UGA is a great state school, I guess it comes down to how much money you're willing to spend. With law in general, I think the graduate/law school is more important.

Last I knew Emory was ranked 3rd nationally in acceptance to law school, and I know for sure the polysci program is very strong. But I know absolutely nothing about UGA, so I can't compare the two. :-)

from what i know, emory's pre law program is very good and, as the previous poster mentioned, is ranked 3rd in admission to law school which is a good deal higher than UGA. their law schools are both good but if you are planning to go to a more high powered law school then i think emory would be the way to go. btw many people at emory are pre law and the poli sci department is very good. i know it will be difficult choosing because of the hope scholarship but good luck.

Law school is mostly a numbers game. GPA and LSats are way more important than even what school you go to. A 4.0 from UGA honors will beat a 3.7 at Emory. Emory probably prepares their pre-law students better for the LSats though. However, there are scores of UGA students that get into top law schools, if they do the work on their own. The question you have to ask yourself is whether the tuition cost is worth it because you'll be drowning in law school costs eventually.

I am waiting for honors as well. I think they are both about equal when it comes to a good background for law school but Emory is more intellectual on a whole while UGA is still a party school.
