I am going to college next year and I need help with choosing which college to go to. I am applying to both Emory and UGA (University of GA). However, I do not know if the colleges will accept me or not. But if they do, which one should I pick? I want to major in Biology and become a Pediatrician. Money plays a role in my decision and location does too, but not as much as money does. I do not want to graduate with a lot of debt, however I do want the best education I can get.

If medical school is your goal, go with the cheapest option. As long as you have high GPA and MCAT score, it doesn’t matter where you go for undergraduate. Your education is largely what you make it out to be, especially with schools like UGA and Emory. BTW, fwiw, a son of an acquaintance of mine went to Emory for premed. He didn’t get into any medical school the last two cycles. Big debt. No future. Bad decision.

Thanks! This really did help, what is your opinion on UGA for undergrad and Emory for med school? Is it a good idea?

What do people call you when you finish Medical College of Georgia with no debt vs. Emory Med School with tons of debt? Even if you finish last at Georgia, you’re still a doctor. But, worry about what medical school to attend when time comes. For now, go to UGA, do extremely well, seek out opportunity, take part in volunteering, enjoy your college experience…

If you can afford it, go to Emory. It is a significantly better school. However, if you can’t afford it, go to UGA.

Did you look into Georgia Tech?
