emory vs usc

I got accepted to both, and interested in pro's and con's. very difficult decision

i was in the same boat until my mom convinced me that emory was better in academics.

You have to go with the intangibles on this one. USC has a football rivalry culture, a real good CS department, and across the board good academics.

Emory spikes ahead in Emory’s academic power areas, like premed, Goizetta Bschool, journalism, history, and some science areas.

But really, it’s all about the massive difference in location and culture. SoCal is just so… SoCal-y. Atlanta is a double edged sword.

panctx100,

I have to agree with Nick017 on this one … each school is great BUT in different ways. If you had asked me 4 years ago, I’d tell you that I was more familiar with USC than Emory, now it’s the reverse. That said, each school will provide you with many options to choose from, including a diversity of academic disciplines/majors. I’d give the edge to Emory in academics, but that’s probably where it stops … especially if you LOVE football and Division I sports, which USC excels at. USC definitely draws mostly from CA, and it has a very “So-Cal” feel to it. Not many years ago, the LA area where USC is situated has a somewhat sketchy aspect to it. Today, that sketchiness is less, but I still wouldn’t want to venture too far off campus in certain directions.

I’d say that you need to do a good examination of what kind of college experience you are seeking. Trust your gut level on this one.
