Emphasis on grades for international applicants?

Hi!

So long story short, I am an international applicant to HYP and I am expected to get A/AA/AAB from Mathematics, Economics and Native language with literature, respectively. I would get two grades from English language as well, however, I had to sit an IELTS last year, from which I received grade 7.5 out of 9, so I could use it as a "substitute". Also note that we do not have A*.

In terms of SATs, I am scoring 800/800 on Maths, 750+ on CR and usually around 43 out of 49 questions on Writing (as I can't grade my own Essay). I haven't done any SAT II yet, but from a brief look they shouldn't be much of a challenge.

My biggest EC is that I am a founder of nonprofit organisation that evaluates all Universities in our country (from students' point of view, we do interviews with current students and that sort of stuff), we have around 3k people on Facebook already and we haven't started to do any advertising outside of facebook yet.

What I was wondering about is that how much emphasis do Ivy league schools put on grades for international applicants? Is that 1 B going to hurt me?

Hello,
I would think that one B would certainly not kill you; however US universities place a lot more emphasis on EC’s than UK universities. The one you listed above seems great, but your chances are going to be higher if you have a range of EC’s. Also, your SAT’s are great so I wouldn’t be too worried about that if you score in the same range for the SATII. I hope this helps!

Hello, I have a similar question.
I have 2310 on my SAT, 800 Math, 770 CR and 740 Writing.
My high school record is usually in the top 25% of the class and I study in the Indian Central Board system. As far as I know, this is not a problem as long as there is a scale on my transcript to make it clearer for the colleges.

I avidly participate in MUNs ( Model United Nations ) and I have 6 Best Delegates so far. (Best Delegate is the highest award in a MUN) and I have gone to 12 MUNs within India.

I play Field Hockey, and am in the school team for three consecutive years.

I also play a classical Carnatic instrument called the Mridangam.
*It is very reputable and I have a lot of awards *

Apart from these main ECs, I have a lot of Olympiad ranks and medals, Acting experience etc.

Should I write the SAT II and AP exams to show how advanced the Indian school system is?
( I read in places that the colleges teach Indian 11th grade math)
Will I get nominated for any merit awards?
I definitely cannot afford even half the tuition of most colleges.
I will be applying to :
Rice
University of Chicago
Vanderbilt University
Berkeley ( No international merit)
Michigan State University ( No international merit)
{ My relatives live in Michigan and went to this school }
University of Houston

Can I get Full Tuition in any of these places, or should I have something more?
