Keep in mind that just about all salary/employment surveys from all universities are skewed. Not everyone is thrilled to report that he/she couldn’t find a job or is underemployed or couldn’t find a job in his/her desired field. The salaries you see reported aren’t always real-world and often reflect very few respondents.

I feel confident, however, that UVa SEAS grads do better than the average engineering grad in any case. I receive info from the Career Development office and BME department almost daily regarding upcoming interviews and career guidance/opportunities.

This is an area that many schools could do a much better job. The best are usually business and engineering where most publics and some privates provide good employment data. The worst is usually the School of Liberal Arts which rarely produces any usable reports. This applies to all schools–not just UVa. Students deserve this info.
