Actually, the “evidence” happened to be the next few posters on this thread, whose individual situations happened to affirm my statement. I did not go about “collecting evidence” to disagree with you, rather the anecdotes provided by the next few posters just happened to refute your claim. </p>
<p>
I don’t “go around and disagree with everyone”, in fact, the only person I have disagreed with on this thread is you. Even then, I’m not the only person who disagrees with your statement on this thread. My posts were neither rude nor cynical, which you seem to confuse as having a different point of view. Your attempt to take a moral high ground is pretty much unjustified, and perhaps it is you that needs a change in attitude. You seem to take extreme offense to anyone who even slightly disagrees with you.</p>
<p>My high school ranks. No competition at all that I can see (and I take all classes w/ all the kids in the top 5%). Everybody in the top 5% is pretty laid back about the whole college thing and realize they’ll get into a good school - there’s no need to fight others to get into a better school.</p>
<p>Maybe this is a coincidence, but you left so many unnecessary comments on my personal threads.
I apologize for generalizing your attitude as “cynical”.
Yet, I constantly find you commenting on my threads this way.
Maybe you are helpful to other posters, but so far (besides this thread)all I received from you is overgeneralization and unnecessary posts.
I find your last words especially amusing.
Pure irony, don’t you think?
None of our discussions would have happened if you would have not commented in such a disrespectful tone.</p>
<p>There you have it:
yes, I do not argue with other posters because they don’t go saying stuff like “see? two (technically 3) posters have agreed with me”
And could we end our discussions here?
I want this thread to help other posters, so let us stop and leave the thread on its intended direction.</p>
The last words are especially amusing because they really hit home? Once again, I fail to see how any of my posts on this thread could be labeled disrespectful, and plenty of posters above have agreed.
Actually I said “And there you go, two (technically three) high schools to support my claim”. I don’t see anything wrong with that statement.</p>
<p>haha, hit home?
you were extremely offended that I disagreed with you, so you waited for some other posters to agree with your point.
That is okay. Maybe you really thought so.
But your reply was: see? there are other people who agree with me.
THAT is what I find disrespectful.
That is all. I do not disagree with other posters.
To a certain degree, schools do not rank.
Notice how I did not disagree with others.
Why? Because they disagreed with me in a respectful manner, unlike you.</p>
I wasn’t offended at all lol, I just said your statement was inaccurate.</p>
<p>
Actually I said “And there you go, two (technically three) high schools to support my claim”. I don’t see anything wrong with that statement.
Once again, you seem to be the only one who thinks that my posts in this thread are “disrespectful”. Notice how your first and third sentence contradict your last.</p>
<p>Hey, I didn’t want to start a riot over a simple question, I just wanted an answer. Now I know that there are a lot of other schools that have ended class rank. I think that my school is considered to be pretty highly ranked for a public, so that helps explain things a bit, though like I originally said, this doesn’t affect me at all since it’s grandfathered in to my class.</p>
<p>I go to a pretty solid, large public school that never had a weighted ranking system but always ranked by UWGPA (the DUMBEST thing in the world but our principal didn’t want to have weighted GPA’s) but they eventually got rid of it starting with this year’s class ('10). It sucked before that for the kids that took hard classes and got 3.8ish GPA’s cause they’d still be right around the top 20% line, if that. Now it’s good tho. BTW lebron is wrong.</p>
<p>I’m an international.
I go to a private school, regarded as one of the top 10 privates in my country.
It doesn’t rank except for top 10, although frankly speaking, it has a rather weird system. Like you can only have two extras for an academic year. :(</p>
