Endicott

Does anyone have information regarding Endicott. My son is a B student and really liked the campus. I am finding it hard to get opinions about the school.

Any info on Endicott?

I have heard wonderful things about Endicott. They are known for their emphasis on experiential learning. Students are required to do an internship. I know several people who attend and love it and the location is gorgeous. Good luck!

EPTR - Thanks for the information. It is difficult to get feed back on Endicott. It is one of my son’s top choices along with Marist, Stonehill and Elmira. I was able to find some info. through College Confidential on Marist and Stonehill.

Hi! I’ll agree with your son, if you haven’t seen it, Endicott is a BEAUTIFUL campus.
However, you may want to consider the following.

Pros: Good reputation. No, it’s not an ivy league, but it is respected.
Close to Boston.
Cons: Not much in Beverly.

Also, remember, it is a small school, and, Division III sports. To some, these things matter.

I would note however, that Stonehill is also beautiful, and has a reputation for having the “happiest students”…again, something to also consider.

This is an old thread, but I’m a senior and I’m trying to make my decision…and I’m really curious to hear more about Endicott! I’ve visited and absolutely love the campus, but I’m not sure how rigorous the academics are. It’s not that selective and I’m just worried I won’t be that challenged. Surprisingly, I got the best FA package from there out of all that schools I applied to… but I’m not sure how the academic side is. Sooo if anyone has any opinions or knowledge of the school, thanks!

Hi, we are curious as to everyone’s opinions as well. Trying to decide between UMass Amherst, Endicott and Salve Regina. UMass is the cheapest because we are instate, but with merit money Salve and Endicott will cost the same.

Endicott is an incredible campus that everyone seems to love but it does get mixed reviews.
They are constantly moving forward, trying to make a name for themselves. I just wonder if, at this point, they are respected enough by our future employers.

Students who choose Endicot do so because they want a small school. UMass Amherst must be the polar opposite of Endicot, so it confuses me to no end how you can compare the schools - just ask yourself what kind of undergrad experience you want.

As I remember Endicot has a great multi-year internship program.

At this point I guess we are just trying to figure out the best bang for our buck. Our focus is more about the positioning at the point of graduation as opposed to paying for a “great college experience”. Smaller school is definitely preferred, but our S was waitlisted at his top choice. His main focus has always been that he wanted to go to the best school possible. While working on getting off that waitlist, he needs to have a Plan B.

herestothenights… what other schools are you considering? Did you go to Endicott’s accepted student’s day yesterday?

hi everyone.

i am looking to possibly enroll at Endicott for the Fall 2010 semester

Any thoughts on their interior design department?

Thanks!

When we attended an Open House event, we learned that Fall semester of senior year is a required internship. You are away from campus working for the term, but you are required to pay tuition as if you were a full time student. Suddenly, their “bargain” tuition rate doesn’t seem so great, considering you pay for 8 semesters and get 7 semesters of education.

Old thread, but I’m looking into Endicott. I feel like for the kind of students who generally attend Endicott, internships are vital and may be what gets them somewhere, so I guess it kind of makes sense? It is a little odd seeming though, I agree. I’m trying to decide if that’s a good enough reason to take it off of my list.

Portableheart - I’m now a student at Endicott! PM me if you have any more questions about it. But I honestly love the internship program here! When I was a senior in high school, I wasn’t really positive what I wanted to do so the program here is great. You do your first internship over winter break of freshman year. For me, the internship really helped confirm my major from the start.

My daughter is a student at Endicott (sophomore), and we have been really pleased with her experience there so far. She gets into Boston a couple of times a semester-there’s a shuttle that takes them to the T. The same shuttle runs to the North Shore Mall. She’s involved in a couple of different activities on campus, which makes a difference. They have a terrific president who the students just love (Doc Wylie). He and his wife often open their home to the students, and in the nicer weather invite the kids for ice cream socials etc. And she sees him on campus a lot. I was impressed at parents weekend this year that he knew most of the kids. Reasonable tuition, decent scholarships. According to her, food could be better, although when I was there it looked pretty good.

I am going to Endicott for my masters in information technology with concentration in health and medical informatics. Anyone a current graduate student there who can give me some information about the program?

Watch this school!!! T’was a second tier girls school ages ago (not bad, but not Vassar) When they went co-ed, like other schools they had to drop applicant standards to get the boys. That’s really old news now. Endicott is coming of age. Unlike Elon, which is spending a ton on marketing, reinventing, putting dollars into show. Endicott is spending the $$ where it counts. Hubby works at Tufts…in his view, its simple…geography attracts talent. Profs+Boston Industry+network+ facilites, driving up the competition.
