My friend took some really strong energy drink before the ACT, and said it helped him focus, as he scored 3 points higher (33) than normal for him. Should I do this on the upcoming ACT? What are your experiences with taking energy drinks (legal ones obv.) before ACT?

Depends on you.

If you can survive 4+ hours without a crash, anything that helps you focus will help.

I would suggest taking 4 tests. Take two after you drink an energy drink and two without an energy drink but alternate taking the drink so your increase in score is not due to improvement. Then just score and see what you did better with and what you feel more comfortable with.

I would try to do some trial runs. My kid wasn’t a morning person, so for few weeks before her SAT test, she took practice tests at exactly the same time as the real test. She had same breaks and had snacks as if she was taking the actual test. She did find her scores were lower for sections taken later, so she tried to up some energy food. I wouldn’t try new drinks the day of test because you wouldn’t know how it would effect you.

Energy drink isn’t going to last four hours, you could drink a few but then you might need to hit the bathroom…addy would be much more helpful
