I've always been curious, post your IQ. No fudging the numbers!

134

This would hardly be a scientific poll. But if you are going to ask, you should also ask people to indicate the source for the numbers - I suspect most submissions will come from “find your IQ!” websites and such.

I don’t intend for this to be anything close to scientific. I’m just going to believe in humanity and the honesty and good faith of ppl. :D

Fair enough.

I was tested by a psychologist when I was 10 or 11. I was not especially cooperative (preferring a different sequence of cartoon panels at one point, and not bothering to say “done” at points where he was timing me) so all he was able to say was “in the 160’s”.

True story.

My IQ seems to fluctuate between 40 and 140, according to my wife.

^You won the internet for the day.

100

Internet tells me I’m between 135 and 155.

But I suspect I’m really between 115 and 130

My wife and I were both tested as children. She scored one point higher than me and doesn’t let me forget it.

200

@da6onet - the correct response to that would be that you were smart enough to marry her…;).

@maryversity +1 point. @da6onet Is the wife an engineer? If so what’s her IQ? I think i can use my Math to extrapolate yours :p

She’s much too smart for that, she manages engineers (among many other duties).

Before or after I’ve been drinking?

I have no idea. People who boast about their IQ are losers. - Stephen Hawking

My ability to take standardized tests is pretty good. My ability to function in life is probably low average.

Are we really getting picked on by a nerd in a wheelchair?

Hawking had a good point - boasting about your IQ implies that you have nothing else to boast about, despite apparent claims to talent. You should be boasting about your actual accomplishments, things you did and not things you are.

And that isn’t even addressing the fact that IQ is practically meaningless to begin with.

I didn’t know we were boasting :p

What’s the hang up with someone’s IQ. It is a test. Admittedly you have to have some smarts to do well on it. I’ve known some very “smart” (i.e. high IQ) engineers that could not engineer their way out of a wet paper bag. You could call it “paralysis by analysis”; they just didn’t have a practical bone in their body and didn’t know when to stop analyzing it and say good enough or the thought of “balanced design” never entered their minds.
