Is it possible to have an override for these courses as a Freshman at UofM Engineering school? If so, what would be the conditions under which such an override could be approved?

Thanks in advance.

I’m a bit confused as to what you want. Are you asking for an override to get into the class because you are not in CoE, or an override to get into a class that has 101 or 100 as a prerequisite?

You mean to take both at the same time? Generally no, they’re very reluctant to offer an override. But if you just mean one, yeah, you’ll get into one of them.

I’d like to clarify my post here a bit. I am asking whether I could get an override on those classes so that I can enroll in classes that have engineering 100/101 as a prerequisite.
Also, if I do get an override is it possible to skip these introductory classes completely and go for 200 level classes as a freshman?

You have to take them (or have credit for them) to graduate, so no. You might be able to get out of 101 if you take 280. Most departments won’t grant overrides for 100/101 if you haven’t taken 280 instead. What class do you want to get the override for?

Vladenschulutte, what do you mean by “or have credit for them”? Is there a way to receive credit without actually taking them? If so, what is it?
Is taking 280 a valid way of getting the 101 requirement for graduation out of the way?
Also, I was hoping to take some of the EECS courses instead of the introductory ones, so I would most likely need an override for that.

101 has equivalents at other schools. 100 you can receive credit for with English 125 if you start in LSA. I’m not 100% sure about how the 280 instead of 101 credit works, but I’ve heard of people doing it before. But this might have been from before 151 existed, and now they may refer you to take 151 instead.

What EECS class is this that you want to get into?
