I will be attending GW’s SEAS for Biomedical engineering but I have no idea what it will be like.
I have tried to research GW’s engineering school but turned up nothing. Anyone know what GW’s engineering programs specifically BME is like? Also if these questions could be answered, I would be very grateful.
- GW’s engineering ranking
- Which dorm would be a good fit for an engineering student?
- Do SEAS professors go out of their way to help their students? (I’m curious in the validity, I heard that they do because GW is trying to better its engineering program.)
- SEAS computer requirements for incoming freshman engineering students
I have a good friend that graduated from the BME program, and he really enjoyed his time.
As far as the ranking, I’m unable to pull it up at this time
The dorm depends on what you want. If you want to be close to your classes, I’d try to pick Madison Hall. It’s only a block from the Science and Engineering Hall, across the street from the library, and relatively quiet. Also, Lafayette isn’t too far. Unless you plan on leaving your room every time you have to study I’d stay away from Thurston (very loud all the time and it’s a good 10-minute walk from the library).
Computer requirements? Do you mean a personal computer? I’m not sure, but that’s something you can ask someone in the department. Here’s all the contact info for people: https://www.seas.gwu.edu/contact-seas#undergraduate I’d recommend trying one of the undergraduate advisors:
Professional Advisor Shaylyn Shiely 4-7609 shaylaws@gwu.edu
Professional Advisor Nadia Kast 4-8169 nortiz@gwu.edu
Professional Advisor Brendan Wright bmw400@gwu.edu
@HonorStudent0 my son is a BME major. He lived in Thurston freshman year and @natehuffer is correct about Thurston being loud, but they put the engineering affinity floor on the 9th (top) floor which worked out quite well. He’s been happy with the professors and worked for one last summer and will again this summer at GW. Overall it’s been a great experience!
@mommymetal That’s great news about the SEAS school putting engineering students together! Hopefully that is still going on.
