Engineering Department Scholarships

Does anyone know if the engineering dept scholarships have gone out?

Bump

I was wondering this as well. I got a call from an engineering student, but I wasn’t home so my mother answered it and talked to her. The student said they haven’t released the engineering scholarships yet, and apparently they are pretty substantial. This was about 3-4 days ago. Does anybody know when they will release them and how competitive they are? UMD is basically out of the running for me unless I receive a significant scholarship :frowning:

I sent an email and I was told Clark School of Engineering has not yet sent out scholarships. And she anticipated they will do so by the end of the first week of Apr.

Are these scholarships something additional you have to apply for?

" Freshmen admitted to the Clark School will be automatically considered for any Clark School scholarships available to first year students."

How many new freshman generally get offered engineering scholarships and roughly for how much? I’ve read $5-15K and for 2 years

I wish I knew the answer to your question! Where did you read about the “$5-15k and for 2 years”?

The Clark School of Engineering will offer scholarships to a select number of freshmen typically around the middle of April. Again, there is no separate application required; students can be automatically considered and reviewed based on application materials that they have already submitted. Clark School scholarships have mostly been two-year awards in recent years, and have ranged from $5,000 to $15,000 per year. Please note that the majority of students who receive these awards must have unmet financial need as demonstrated by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Just received an email that scholarships for engineering will come out April 16. Did anyone else get this email?

Got the same email.

Yes, just got that email. I wonder what chances of getting are? In the FAQ, says that majority of students who receives this award must have unmet financial need, so not based just on merit. Guess shouldnt get hopes up, because may not be eligible depending on what they consider to be financial need.

Yeah I received it as well. Not getting my hopes up…

Reply from the Eng dept - The Clark School plans to announce its freshmen scholarship awardees by Sat., Apr. 16

Any news on this front?

Nothing

Got a $1K scholarship today but maybe others coming for other ppl tomorrow?

Was this thru mail or email? Do you mind posting your stats? Instate or OOS?

Good question @lulu123456 . I want to know this info also.

Email.
In state, IB w. math and science heavy transcript, 4.0 unweighted.
Two strong sci/engineering extras, plus did some independent research for Intel STS competition. Lots of leadership in both extras.
Also very good rec from chem teacher
