Does anyone have information on scholarships offered from the college of engineering? Per the website it appears that 2-3 full rides are offered to each incoming class but outside of those it basically indicates other money in undetermined amounts and quantity may be offered. All based on funding available.
Any idea on how many of these may be awarded and what the dollars ranges might look like?
It also says they will be awarded in April. Does this sound accurate?
Thank you
Hello, my son got a merit scholarship from the engineering college. The email came on 4/15 and offered my son a 5k/yr scholarship for two years - total 10k.
My son also received 5k/2year scholarship from the engineering department. Don’t remember when it came other than after all merit and other financial aid had been posted. It was a nice surprise.
I just got an email about interviewing for the A. James Clark Scholars Program. I’m not entirely sure what this is or how many people are interviewed. But it seems very selective because only 10 people are admitted into the scholars program. Does anyone have any insight? Thank you!
@Skyisblue2020 and @terpfam Thank you for the responses. $5K for 2 yrs would help. Like you said nice surprise if it were to happen.
@glorianagloriana congratulations you should be proud of the invite to interview. Good luck to you!
@glorianagloriana Congratulations on the invite and good luck on the interview. My daughter also received the invite this afternoon. The Clark Scholars Program is the Clark Foundation’s signature scholarship program. Currently 8 universities are offering or starting up this 4 year program. This fall will be the inaugural year for Clark Scholars at UMD. Eventually 40 students will be in the program at any one time. The description is at clarkfoundationdc.org. Based on the letter all invitees who interview will be receiving no worse than a Clark Legacy Scholarship which is $10,000 over the first 4 semesters. Students invited into the program will be offered additional financial support throughout all 4 years. This sounds like a wonderful opportunity for anyone accepted into the program.
While I can’t comment on how many scholarships for incoming freshmen, I can tell you that there are a LOT available on a yearly basis after you matriculate. It is one application in the spring, and they match you as best they can to one of the many engineering department scholarships listed here http://advancement.umd.edu/celebration/listScholarships.php?div=7fb1789cc47ce66e1b63a5d2ff79475866c739a8
@red98blue thank you, good luck to you too!
@CU1986 congrats to your daughter and good luck! Do you have any idea how many people are interviewed? And how much this financial aid is generally?
