<p>it shouldnt, because firstly they’ve given you the option to talk only about your interest (notice the OR), and secondly, its reasonable enough to suppose that not everyone interested in engg already has an idea they wanna work upon :)</p>

<p>I only talked about my interest, no ideas. Well I maybe had some ideas in there, but they were nothing special or innovative; I focused more on my interest in engineering. Glad they gave the option of doing either one!</p>
