Engineering Forum Moderator

Is there one?

<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/engineering-majors/963123-we-badly-need-new-sticky.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/engineering-majors/963123-we-badly-need-new-sticky.html</a></p>

I very much second this notion. Since there is no moderator existing in the engineering forum to attest to a user’s helpfulness and general ability to moderate, would accepting community nominations be a good idea? I have a few names in mind.

In my opinion, community nominations are a good start in this scenario. The CC team can then choose for themselves by looking through the nominees’ post histories instead of checking random people’s profiles. That should make the process easier.

I nominate bonehead! :D

Seconded. He has a butt load of posts, which means he probably has the time to do it. :-D

^It’s not the quantity of posts but rather the quality. Anyone who browses the engineering forum knows how helpful and knowledgeable bonehead is.

I have shared this thread with our mods for input. Thank you for the suggestion!

i nominate bonehead as well. He seems to know what hes talking about and suggests some good advice.

What was the outcome of this?

I am not usually a fan of bumping threads, but seriously, can we expect any sort of outcome from this?

Hey guys (and girls),

I don’t think it is any secret that the engineering forum has a marked lack of consistent moderation. While censorship isn’t an issue, the lack of ability to sticky/unsticky threads and maintain an updated FAQ thread are important.

If you support trying to name a new engineering moderator, go to the following thread in the “Community and Forum Issues” forum and express your opinion:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/community-forum-issues/963129-engineering-forum-moderator.html</a></p>

ken285 and I have been advocating this for a little while and I figure that maybe a little bit more more noise on this topic may be just what the doctor ordered.

boneh3ad

I nominate boneh3ad for moderator, also!

OK, I put my two cents in.

Haha, sheesh, don’t make this look like a shameless self-plug.

I don’t care who is named a mod so long as they are willing to make sure the stickies don’t get out of date and accepts suggestions from the rest of us.

Oh, sorry, I didn’t mean to embarrass you! I think you’re an obvious person for the post, though. I’m glad you’re following through with this!

Any response would be welcome…

boneh3ad for Engineering Majors subforum moderator 2010!

We need a moderator to ban Homer and other resentful business majors. He is turning the engineering board into complete garbage.

I was just reading through another thread focused on Civil E and noticed that you have a strong tradition of shutting down anyone who even dares to question that engineering is not a good field. If engineering is truly as good as you say, then why the constant defense of it?

First, that isn’t even a valid argument. The first statement does not in any way logically support the second.

Second, don’t hijack the thread and bring this crap here. That is directed at both Homer and ME. C’mon guys, you know better.
