Engineering Merit Scholarship

I was just wondering if anyone knew what it takes to get a high Engineering Merit Award as a freshman? The website says it varies from $1000 to $4000 a year and is primarily based off of standardized test scores, with the math score being of higher priority. Well, I have a 33 on the ACT, a 35 on the math, and even received the Presidential Scholarship Award of $55k, but I only got a $1k/year engineering merit award. What does it take to get up to $4k/year?

Maybe they give the “big” money to Colorado residents who don’t have scholarships like the President’s or Chancellor’s available to them.

My son got a 1500/yr merit award with a 33 Math ACT subscore, 34 composite. He is a Colorado resident. Congratulations on your scholarships!

S, a Colo resident, got the 4K per year Engineering Merit Scholarship, so maybe PuckPasser is right. He has decent but not perfect test scores (2130 SAT, 34 ACT) and is a Natl Merit Semi-Finalist (hopefully Finalist, we’ll find out in a couple weeks).
