Engineering: RPI vs WPI vs Villanova Honors vs UCONN Honors

Son admitted to RPI, WPI, Villanova honors, UCONN honors. Any personal feedback/opinion/experience on how they compare (other than published rankings, etc.) for undergrad engineering in general and electrical engineering as a possibility would be much appreciated. Anyone faced/facing somewhat similar choices among them and what was decision?

Son had equal scholarship offers to RPI and WPI. He chose WPI because he liked the school, atmosphere and class structure better, plus the project-based learning. But RPI is top-notch, and it was a tough call. You can’t go wrong with either school academically, so he should visit and decide which feels better to him.

RPI and WPI accept a lot of the same kids so there are lots of threads here and on the College Search forum comparing them. My son also preferred WPI to RPI and he did not want to consider Villanova at all
RPI/WPI are STEM-focused schools, while Villanova is mostly liberal arts school with some engineering thrown in to the mix. It is a totally different environment! Plus it is a Catholic school. So RPI/WPI versus Villanova is totally apples versus oranges. There is no right answer, it depends on your son’s interests, personality and perhaps finances
Hopefully, you have visited them?
UConn is a good value for the dollar.
