Engineering Scholarships updated for 2018-2019

I happened to check the page today. Looks like there is only 1 tier now starting at an ACT of 30.

Is the May deadline new for freshman? I remember in the past students talk of students changing their major to engineering in the summer to get this award. (I know in later years you can apply and it will be awarded based on availability.)

I thought the May deadline was the case back in 2014, when my son matriculated.

You can go in as “undeclared engineering” if you’re not sure of your major (you must declare a major by end of sophomore year, I believe), but you have to have applied and been accepted to the CoE by May 1 as I recall.

Just reminding: it is unethical to declare oneself as an engineering major just to get the scholarship, unless you fully intend to continue with engineering. Here is the link discussing this: http://eng.ua.edu/admissions/scholarships/policies/

^ #2, according to my link above: “Scholars must declare a major within the College of Engineering prior to the start of their third semester at the University. Undesignated Engineering majors will be disqualified from receiving College scholarship support at that point.”

Here, also, is link to the engineering degree flowcharts. Some of this info is new for incoming Fall 2017: http://students.eng.ua.edu/degrees/flowcharts/

Thanks, @aeromom, for that correction. That’s an important distinction!
