Thank You for the information! I’ll probably retry the ACT and maybe the SAT to see if I can get a higher score, thank you for your guys help!
Pay attention to the college and scholarship application deadlines.
Seek out information now so that the first semester fall term/HS senior year, you have more direction to your college applications, testing, efforts.
The difference in scholarship money may mean wanting to do a lot of test prep and testing. DD1 had retaken the SAT but didn’t move her numbers; both DDs were able to move the numbers on ACT. ACT offered Sept, Oct, Dec - and UA does take the Dec test score (which earned DD2 the full four year tuition scholarship and full four year eng scholarship with that Dec score). Sometimes timing may be off on a test date - want to give yourself a fair shake at it. Some ACT test dates, for a small fee, can get your results back to see what was missed. I would recommend if you want to retake SAT, retake it on the June date if you can and save your fall for raising your ACT.
Since UA’s eng and general scholarships are spelled out, you know that with GPA and test score what you will get - no ‘maybe’.
Some colleges offer a week summer introductory engineering program - UA’s program is called SITE (Student Introduction to Engineering) which is eng/cs, for rising HS juniors and seniors. DD2 took it summer before senior year. It clarifies the different eng/cs disciplines and also allows students to get familiar with campus/facilities. UA offers three one week summer SITE dates, and they fill up fast; UA doesn’t advertise this program. I know other schools like Purdue offer something similar. Look now because all have limited number of slots and when they accept applications/registrations.
Based on your current stats, see what various schools in-state or OOS may be potential schools. If you can attend a summer eng intro program, that would help in direction. Getting on various college campuses, you can see what you like/don’t like.
@sosconcern This makes sense, I’ll look around at some summer programs for sure and though I haven’t taken the SAT yet, i’ll probably just do that on June like you said and focus on ACT during the summer. Thanks so much!
