Engineering departmental scholarship?

is there anyone receiving engineering departmental scholarship? I am waiting but i checked tiger i account and i only see presidential scholarship. so i just wonder.

Hi failorsuccess. My son got an engineering departmental scholarship and it has been posted to his account on tiger i.

My understanding is the engineering dept. scholarships for incoming students have been posted.

what is average act score for dept. scholarship receivers? My GPA, ACT, and APs are good but have not heard from department. also, i am AL resident.

I’m assuming you’re an incoming student, corrrect?
Are you applying for dept. award in Chem or civil? I think some of their scholarships require a separate application. I am hoping an engineering student or parent chimes in on this question, since my D is in COSAM. My response to your question should by no means be considered super accurate. I’m working from some basic info and from how other areas of AU tend to operate (in other words, a little conjecture!)

If we look at just overall averages of last year’s enrolled engineering frosh class, the avg. H.S. gpa was 3.86 and avg. ACT score was 28.5. Since these numbers were basically the middle of the road, then I’m guessing (operative word here is "guess’) it’s going to take 32-33-ish with a 3.9-4.0+ to be awarded money. Were you already awarded one of the general engineering scholarships? That could possibly make a difference as well, meaning that if you had really good scores, but not great 35-36 sort of ACT scores, they may decide to award departmental awards to students who didn’t get a general engineering scholarship. Basically, they like to offer anyone with good stats at least some kind of scholarship. Departmental often get awarded to: 1) those who may not have gotten another type of award, and 2) those who have such superior stats that they warrant additional scholarship funds. You may want to contact or email Mary Lynn Saidla – she coordinates the scholarships for the engineering college. I bet she can answer any questions you may have.

DS was actually awarded a general engineering scholarship (with ACT 36). His engineering major doesn’t offer freshman scholarships. When my DD was a freshman she got a departmental scholarship with a 34 ACT.

gpa of 4.6. total 11 APs. Outstanding high school.
Ranking within 5%. ACT of 32.

i only got spirit of Auburn. none for general.

applied for elec. eng.

Yes, i am incoming freshmen

The cut offs for engineering scholarships vary each year depending on the number of highly qualified students. When my son was a freshman we were told they were only considering students with at least a 34 ACT. Engineering dept scholarships at Auburn are very competitive.

Just curious … my DS is an OOS high school junior. We visited Auburn over spring break and he liked it. I ran the NPC and it shows the Presidential scholarship of $16,000. How much are the engineering general / major scholarships, if he happened to receive one next year? He would need a bit more to make it affordable.
