Engineering Schools for 1230 SAT and 3.84 GPA

I am currently a high school student from Northern Virginia with a 1230 SAT(630 Math 600 Verbal) with a 3.84 GPA. I plan on taking the SAT a second time as well as take the ACT. I was initially looking at Virginia Tech due to the strong engineering program(Mechanical or Chemical), however I’ve heard that the engineering school is very competitive. Because of this, I decided to look into other schools that match my scores.

My Scores/ECs:
-1230 SAT(I believe I can get it up to 1300)
-3.84 GPA
-4-year Varsity Swimmer
-Club Swim
-Eagle Scout
-NTHS
-Robotics

Some Schools I’ve looked into
-Virginia Tech
-University of Delaware
-University of Ohio
-University of Cincinnati
-VCU
-Miami(OH)

I didn’t put GMU on this list, because I do not want to go to a commuter school, as I want the college experience. I also was looking at schools that were outside of NOVA, but not too far away. The farthest away from home I’d be okay with, would be about the distance from NOVA to Chicago(about 12 hours drive). I have already visited VCU and plan on visiting Ohio University in May. If I could have some additional recommendations for schools in my area, that would be great!

GMU (there are plenty of residential students there), VCU, ODU. Set a budget with your family before looking further.

GMU would be a commuter school for me, because I live so close to it. Does Old Dominion have good programs? I looked into U of Cincy and Ohio, because they had great scholarships/financial aid

For Engineering look for ABET accredited programs. https://main.abet.org/aps/Accreditedprogramsearch.aspx
