So I'm currently a second year IE (Industrial Engineering) major at Georgia Tech, and ever since freshman year I've been having second thoughts about changing to architecture. I have great passion for drawing, but only recently have I considered becoming a full time architecture student...

The thing is, if I were to change majors, I'd transfer altogether. How hard is it to transfer as an architect for someone without any architectural experience? I don't have a portfolio either, but I'm willing to start working on it as soon as possible. Do I stand a chance?

I have no idea about Georgia Tech, but when I transfered from engineering to architecture at Ohio State, all it took was a drop/add slip. However times have changed. Architecture experience is not a requirement, but an art portfolio is often required. I know a couple of schools (Auburn and Florida) require a summer studio from which they accept the upper end of the class, I assume there are some schools that you can get into with just a solid GPA in engineering. Just contact the schools and see what their requirements are. In your area there a lot of solid schools beyond Tech; Auburn, Clemson, Florida, NC State, Virginia, Virginia Tech. Someone will take you.
