Call me crazy. I have just recently decided that architecture might be a good career path for me, but since Im a high school senior, at this time of ther year, I've already done all the applications and gotten acceptances into colleges. I'm just wondering if it is even possible to internally transfer into architecture program within a university. Now I understand that all arch program admissions require a portfolio so I'm not giving this a lot of hope. But what about after a year? Does this mean I still have to creat a portfolio?

You should contact the school you want to go to about this. If they have a portfolio requirement for freshman admits, they won't wave it for you though. But there are some schools (4-year programs) where you take general education requirements and basic design courses for two years, then submit a portfolio to get into the upper division of the program, instead of submitting a portfolio right away. The two I know of that do this are ASU and UF, but I'm sure there are others out there. A program like this would be the easiest to transfer into as a freshman.
