Engineering Undeclared

I got in Engineering Undeclared to UIUC this year as a James Scholar and I wanted to know how easy to would be to switch to CS after a year?

I would say it’s tough declare for CS in Engineering.

If you can handle the math/physics/hardware/EE courses, getting in to CompE is likely easier, and you could take some CS classes there as well.

@PurpleTitan‌ from what I’ve heard, Engineering Undeclared is actually very selective and that only a 100 or so students get in. And apparently, they honor most engineering undeclared requests for a major.
Do you know anything about that?

Nope. That’s probably true for engineering majors other than CS, however. CS in Engineering is experiencing the most enrollment pressure and is the most selective of any major. They turn away applicants who are more qualified than the average admit to some other Engineering majors.

@PurpleTitan‌ I just called admissions.
They said that only the best students get Engineering Undeclared and that only a handful of engineering undeclared students have not gotten their first choice major.
Apparently, they keep spaces aside for Engineering Undeclared kids.
