engineering

Hello,
I am an instate resident. Go to a well-known high school (which sent 50+ to UIUC last year) and am looking to apply for engineering.

With a 29 ACT (retaking) and a 3.25 GPA + typical extra curriculars (sports, etc) will I have a chance? I hear it is a tough program to get into. Also, does having a rigorous senior year schedule help? I'm in university classes for math, I will have 18 hours of math by the time I graduate. Thanks in advance.

Engineering students have middle 50% stats of 29-32 ACT, 1300-1450 SAT, and 85%-97% class rank. If you go to a very competitive high school, they might let you slide on the class rank a bit, but it's still pretty competitive. A rigorous senior year won't help too much since the two main factors are class rank at the end of junior year and SAT/ACT scores.
