I just emailed the dept advisor but I'm wondering if anyone knows anything.

I want to take English 117a for my first semester as a freshman, but I realize that, by notice of FYWFrosh, that it's an UD course (I didn't pay attn to the numbers =__=)

It's the only English class that fits my schedule atm and it counts towards one of the reqs. I need to fulfill before declaring an English major. Am I allowed to take it?

If you go on the schedule.berkeley.edu website and enter in the course # for Fall, there’s a link underneath that says “Click here for current enrollment information and course restrictions.”

According to the link:
"53 student(s) are enrolled, with a limit of 107 and 0 student(s) are on the waiting list, with a limit of 60.

This Waiting List will be processed manually by the department.

This course has no restrictions at the coursewide level.

Seats have been reserved for:

Students with a major of English (Open)

Students with a major of Undeclared or Comparative Literature and Students with a class level of Senior or Junior (Open)

Open seating (Open)"

There are no pre-reqs you need to take, so as long as the remaining seats aren’t filled by declared English majors and seniors/juniors, you should be fine. Declared majors and seniors/juniors usually get priority, so if there’s a waiting list they’ll be bumped up the line. Just pray that 55 majors/seniors/juniors decide not to take Shakespeare.

Hmm, now the question is whether or not I readd that class, or drop English 45B, lol…

Thank you so much for your help!
