I consider my self a decent English language user even though I've only been using it for about four years. I decided to enter AP lang second semester to expand my knowledge and to challenge myself, but I'm worried that I might be expanding my limits too far. Its not that I will not be able to accommodate to the rigor of the class, but I might not have the necessary skills to reach my academic standards. Furthermore, I feel like one semester in the class will not enhance my skills enough to score a 5 in the AP test.

Are my worries justified? If so, is there anything I can do outside of class to give me a competitive edge?
Thanks.

That is practically my entire AP english lang class. However, i highly doubt that you are as (in need) as many of the kids in my class.

I’m practically the only native english speaker and i want to bang my head at the wall half of the class.

Rereading your post… you’re going to be just fine. “accommodate to the rigor of the class” you really have a command of language that is just nonexistent in mine.

The only really thing you could do to help yourself is to read. (in english of course… long story short my teacher told us this and somebody asked if they could read in Spanish…)

Read anything you find interesting; for me that just happens to be politics.

I know most of the vocab in the list you presented above, thanks for the confidence booster. I started today, and it seems to me that I will only have to work extra on my own. Its nothing out of the ordinary.
