Hello, I am currently enrolled in a first year writing course that is taught by a PhD graduate student. Unfortunately, this man takes his job too seriously, and grades based off of instinct rather than a standardized rubric. I have not been able to satisfy his writing expectation thus far, even after using every resource this school has to offer. As a last resort, I am in search for a online service, or perhaps an individual, who I am willing to pay in order to help me with my essays. At this pace, I am looking at a B/B+ final grade which is completely uncalled for considering the majority of the students typically get As in this type of course. After speaking to other students, they also had this unfortunate turnout (terrible GSI). Can anyone offer a solution?
Have you tried talking to him to figure out where your essays are falling short?
I’m not sure where you got the idea that you deserve an A simply because it’s a freshman writing course. I know plenty of GSIs who teach freshmen writing and an A is not the default.
Check the course review online and figure out the grade distributions in the past. There is no class that all students get As.
Your essays are getting torn up even after visiting Sweetland? Have you talked to the actual professor (if it’s set up like lower division math courses you may need to do a little searching to figure out who it is)?
Although I know an A is not a default, it is what a majority of students receive based off of my experience with talking to them.
I have talked to the professor, but he offers little guidance in improving my papers. And when I do following his guidance and the way he likes to read an essay, my grade improves marginally.
Yes, the Sweetland Writing Center is no match for my instructor.
