What class is English 5? And what class is English 1PA?
Are they remedial?

Hm. It looks like Eng5 and Eng1PA must be taken together.

If you pass them, it’s equivalent to getting credit for Eng1A… so you get to move onto Eng1B after you taken them.

Doesn’t really sound remedial… they’re just giving you extra help.

Eng 1pa is the same as 1a but its “slower”. It for people that dint pass by a slim margin

Wait so that means people who get this option didn’t pass the AWPE? But it will let me be on time with my calsses rite?

about falling behind; take a look at the last page http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-riverside/647963-ask-current-ucr-freshman-anything-43.html

Since you are given the chance to take 1PA, I’m guessing they’re just unsure about your writing skills, so they’re sort of giving you a 1A class with extra help? It’s strange, I never heard of that class until this year haha

1PA is pretty much the class between Eng4 and 1a.

thanks for the replies everyone! the letter i received from UCR telling me about signing up for English 1PA and not English 1A, was a little disconcerting and i had no idea about how to get more information. :)

does this mean you would just sign up for 1pa? or have 2 classes: english 5 and 1pa?

you’re supposed to enroll in both.
