Hi all, hoping for some advice. I’m a CC student trying to decide what school to transfer to for my junior year. As a liberal arts major, I’d like to major in English/Comparative English, and I intend to pursue graduate degrees, hopefully to become a professor. I’m also interested in becoming an educator in other fields, like food policy.
I got my acceptance from NYU and I have to give them my decision early next week. I’ve also been accepted to Hunter/other CUNYs and I’m planning on applying to the CUNY BA program if I do end up choosing CUNY, because it’s a program for self-designed/interdisciplinary majors. Still waiting to hear back from Amherst re: waitlist.
The main factor that’s causing my indecision is NYU’s sticker price - while over half of my tuition will be covered with scholarships, the remainder that I must cover will still be about 40k if I stay for two years.
Is the private school education/resources worth the debt? Would love to hear from folks with experiences in all of these different programs, or other English majors.
