<p>How are the English/Pysch departments at Barnard?</p>
<p>I don't know about The Psych department, but the English Department is outstanding and produces both academics and writers (for example, Jhumpa Lahiri who wrote THE NAMESAKE.</p>
<p>My d is a neuroscience major, which is basically a joint venture between the Psych and Biology departments. She never, ever intended to major in any kind of science but was "hooked" when she took her first intro to Psych course at Barnard. She absolutely loves it and is currently enjoying a competitive research fellowship with students from all over the country.</p>
<p>And Barnard's english department is absolutely top notch.</p>
