English Regents Examination

this is onyl for u NY state CCers does anyone know the order of the english regents and what u have to kno for it my teacher this year was really bad and didnt explain anyting thanks

Yes, I'm taking the examine as well after taking AP lang. & comp. Tommorrow is basically the information cram day so to speak. It'll consist of a proctor reading a passage and you taking notes, regurtitating all of the information back into essay form. The second part of involves reading a passage and interpreting a chart of some kind; that's basically all day one. Then, on friday, day two, we have a controlling idea essay, and then a quote that has to be justified or invalidated using some novel/book. If I were you, I honestly wouldn't stress over it.

so tommorow i cant study for right?

Tommorrow no, but for friday I'd just refresh my memory on some novels that I've read--taking note of some reoccurring themes and what not.

what about like literary devices do we need to kno em for either day?

On Friday, yes.

aight thanks a lot bro

just read "death of a salesman". i finally know what regents are. lol

this test is madd easy. Just know 2 books (i like steinbeck "Grapes of Wrath, or "Of ice and men" or some orwell books like 1984 and animal farm) These books can be used for anything possible that they would ask. For example, economical problems, intellectual, and social problems.

Eeeezy

Easy indeed unless you screw up.

i use macbeth for alot

Several questions for the first day first essay:

1)What is the difference in terms of tone, point of view, audience of feature articles, reports, and essays?

2) Can you write the classice 5 para essay with the 3 part thesis or can you write like on AP Lang and Comp=freestyle?

3)Can you always get around not using the first person "I"? However when they word the question asking "you decide" or anything similar, does that mean that using "I" would be recommendable?

Thank you for your help fellow New Yorkers.

The regents exam is a joke. Two of the essays are to the effect of "rewrite this eassay/story read aloud." If you can get a 500 on the CR on the SAT, you will ace the reading comp sections. As for the essays, just sprinkle a few literary elements and SAT vocab words in there and you will get an easy six.

woo just completed session 1 what do i have to kno for the critical lens and poem comparison tommorow?
