English regents is a piece of cake. If you can get higher than a 380vSAT, then I am pretty sure you'll get higher than an 80 on the english regents.

make a list of books u've read and their authors. that way, when the time for that essay comes u won't have to search ur mind for books

Yeah, the English Regents are a glorified pulse-and-breating check. But if you must, one of the most useful things you can do is read one or two "universal" novels or plays - you know, classics like The Great Gatsby and whatnot that you can use on any essay.

It's pretty formulaic. Just make sure you have a specific thesis and literary elements for the two-genre and critical lens. The critical lens is usually pretty broad, so you can use any book you've ever read.

Today was really a drag, though. Vending machines are not an exciting topic to write about. Like really not. No one wants to write about them. ::shakes fist at Board of Regents:: At least the first part's over. :

LOL yeah ... Vending Machines and Jaws.

What I didn't understand was it said only write the body of the letter. Did I really have to write only the body because that was just an odd request.

how did you guys do .. i got a 93,.. ugh i was expecting higher

^^IDK yet, I think I did well though.
I'll find out on Monday.

I kinda forgot the name of the character in one of the books that I talked about in my critical lens though. I just used "the main character," but the book fit the quote perfectly. How much do you think that will hurt my grade?

LOL, yeah, we were talking about how boring some of the topics were. On a practice one we did in class, the Listening was on Christopher Reeve, which was really interesting.

sorry to bring this up from forever ago, but yeah. I'm happy.
I got a 100!
Only person of everyone taking it to do so, and I'm a sophmore!

I just had to brag
lol.

do colleges evev look at the grades on regents or do they just look at what grade you got in class?

some ppl told me they c ur final grades and ur regents grades (and maybe final exams also..?)

I hope they don't look at your final exam grades >.<

I got a 90! It's good for me ^_^

They're honestly a pain in the butt, nobody wants to sit through a 6 hour writing test. It's about time management and staying calm and collected. Review books that apply to everything, like Lord of the Flies or the Great Gatsby. Do not let yourself get tired, and seriously, try to put yourself into the essays. Don't act like it's an essay that you don't want to write, because the topics that we had to write about were about simple things that really necessitated some emotion on our part.
DEFINITELY organize your essays. My essays used to be a mess, but once I started organizing them, they kept getting better and better. Make an outline w/ your thesis and your topic sentences, and what you want to say in each paragraph. As for vocab, I usually have a rule of not using the words, good, bad, and nice. I was in AP Lang. and Comp. and everyone was just like "I can beat everyone even if I don't try," but I went into it like "I'm going to try and I want to blow everyone else out of the water." It worked because I got a 100, and if you try, and get a perfect score, it's definitely worth the effort.

Make sure you know at least 3 English works really well for the Critical Lens. I always talked about The Scarlet Letter and The Crucible because I could relate them to everything.

People have told me that it also tends to be easier to agree with the critical lens. Also, for that essay my English teacher suggested writing two introduction paragraphs. One focused mostly on interpreting the quote, and the other on introducing the works.

95...wo0t!!!

Ugh. Def not a fun test. I got a 99 though. Seems to be the story of my life. I have gotten a 99 on every freakin regents I have taken (except math b-85 whoops!). All I want in life is three things to get a 100 on a regents, go to University of Chicago and learn how to blow smoke rings.

lmao davnasca

dam i got a 88. i thpught when they meant to write the body of the letter it meant just the body not including an intro and conclusion. how was i supposed to know it meant write no adresss. the only 100 i ever got was on math a.

haha, i got a 98 on math A....it was a really stupid question too....very annoying

92 on the English regents
