Enjoyed accounting classes???

It seems like almost everyone on this site talks about how terrible and boring their college accounting classes are and how awful it is to work in accounting. I just wanted to see if there were some people who LOVED their accounting classes and/or their accounting job and why they do? Anyone feel free to pitch in their opinions, positive or negative. Thanks

bump…i’d like to hear some different people’s experiences and perspectives

I know for sure that Hitler didn’t like his accounting job :)

Lol that was pretty funny…definitely not reassuring by any means tho…haha

I don’t know if I LOVED any of my accounting class but I definitely enjoyed some of them.

My enjoyment primarily was a factor of three things:
a) quality of teacher - some teachers are awesome and some suck and/or are not good lecturers
b) topics covered in the course - some courses have a lot of interesting topics and some do not
c) course speed - Intermediate and upper level accounting courses often have SO MUCH material to cover in a short period of time. You will be constantly busy and therefore not really have “time” to enjoy the class.

A lot of courses are good on B (although def. not all), less so on A (but still at least half), but very few are good on C. If A, B, or C is absolutely terrible, it’s very hard to “love” the course. If your school wants to cover most topics covered in the CPA exam (they usually try) and want you to complete your degree in a timely manner, you will certainly encounter a lot of classes where C will prevent you from enjoying much less loving the course.

I enjoyed the foundation accounting gave me…but I would never want to be an auditor or do tax work.

^So what do you do now? Do you work in finance?

Finance and consulting were more intriguing opportunities…

I’m sorry but what are A, B, and C classes? Also, is Illinois at Urbana Champaign a school that is recruited for top finance jobs out of college?

gbaby,

read the whole post to find out.

lol wow sorry whatdidyou didn’t even put the two together. Your post makes much more sense to me now, haha.
