enough? for US history?

i have 2months to prepare and
im planning to study with kaplan and just going over and studying the official one..
will this get me a score of 800?

bump~0000000

Are you in US History currently? Especically if you are in APUS, you should be right on track to a good score, especially with some extra studying. I mean, can I promise you that you will get an 800? Obviously not. But the curve isn't too bad on the APUS test, and it is definitely a test that can be prepared for, so it seems like you are on the right track.

I was a pretty hard worker in APUS (although not really a studier...I am a naturally capable history student) and preparing moderately for the APUS exam (I got a 5) and taking the SAT II at the May testing date (the day after the APUS exam) worked out fine for me--I got a 780 on the US SAT II.

I agree with advantagious. If you are in a APUSH class, you are pretty much set unless you don't ever do the work. IMO, the APUSH test is the easiest to prepare for. A lot of other tests, especially the math ones, are harder if someone doesn't have a strong foundation in math. But APUSH, you can get a 5 simply by preparing [though I do not think this is a good method of getting a good score].

Also, I think Kaplan will be good enough. I got a 5 on the AP exam simply by using one book. My other friends used a ton of books and scored lower than me simply because they hadn't read the chapters from our book during the year. It helps if you have a lot less to prepare for. Make sure you are reviewing, not learning the material for the first time.

lol didn't take APUSH.. just took one in school T-T
would that make a HUGe difference?

I'd highly recommend AMSCO's book for APUSH, though it can be difficult to find. Everyone loves it. REA and Princeton Review are really good ones for prep, too, even if you didn't take the class.

Many don't take the class and still take the exam/subject test. Many of those use the AMSCO book. Seriously, look it up on Amazon and visit http://apcentral.livejournal.com. Very helpful.

^^ I ordered the amasco History prep book two months ago on Amazon, and I'm not VERY impressed. I've read every single one of the reviews on Amazon and thought it would be an amazing book, but it didn't really met my expectations. Don't get me wrong, but the book is really detailed, and I love that. But it lacks full-length practice sets.

Any idea on what book I should purchase to get really good practice tests? Most of my classmates in my APUSH class are using REA, and I've looked through it, it seems like a good prep book.

How similar are the APUSH questions to those of the SAT II? I did an official practice test from the college board in USH and scored a 73/80 on the m/c. Would this score be similar to my SAT II score? What if I am aiming for an 800?
