Son was accepted to UT and PII honors and it is one of his top choices. Should we send the $200 enrollment deposit so he can be on track for good housing? He still has other schools to hear from and cost of attendance and any merit scholarships will play a factor in where he goes.......so we could end up losing $200........but if it makes a huge difference in choice of housing at UT should he attend, we will do it.

Did you already pay the initial (refundable) 50 dollar deposit? That’s what gets you on track for housing. You don’t have to pay the $300 for housing until you accept admission ($200).

Paid this in November. You are sure this is what secures your spot in line? Reading the P2 literature it sounded like we needed to go ahead and send the $200.

Here’s how I think it goes: you pay the 50$ housing deposit after finishing your application, which in effect puts in your name on the “waiting list” should you be admitted but does not necessarily guarantee that you’ll be given housing… after you pay the $200 enrollment deposit, and then you can request a housing contract ($300) which is refundable if you cancel your admission… look at some of UTHousing’s posts.
