Housing Question

OK - So I was wondering what exactly I should do next.

I applied for Housing early morn in October 1, I just sent in my Enrollment Deposit of $200. Do I have to fill out another form before I can update my residence hall preferences? And priority is based upon how early you turned in that form on October 1 correct?

Thanks for any of your help!

Yes, the Dept. of Housing and Food Services should send you a housing contract in the next few weeks. You must sign it and return it by the stated date along with a $300 housing deposit or you will be unable to stay on campus.

Then you will be able to update your preferences on the Housing website.

And from what I understand, all people who submitted their form on October 1 have the same priority number, with them being ranked by the date they paid their enrollment deposit. But I might be wrong on this one.

I'm pretty sure that everyone who applies on October 1 gets their first choice dorm unless they make an outlandish request like a single room or a private bath in Jester.

If we decide not to enroll, will we get the enrollment deposit back? What about the housing deposit?... suppose we pay it and then decide not to enroll? (is that even possible?)

NO, you don't get your money back (as I found out last year!! - a $300 mistake). So, unless you are sure you want to live on campus, think twice before paying the $300.

Ok, what about the enrollment deposit? I'm guessing we don't get that back either?

Regarding enrollment deposit:

To secure your spot in the incoming class, you’ll need to pay your $200 enrollment deposit or have an official deposit waiver approved by the deadline shown on your online Application Status page. Your enrollment deposit will be applied to your first semester’s Tuition and Fees, and the deposit is not refundable after May 1.

To accept your housing offer, you must print, complete and sign your contract and return it to the Division of Housing and Food along with a $300 advance payment before the indicated expiration date (contracts and payments not returned by the expiration date will be cancelled). After you check in to the residence hall, you are bound to your contract for the long session if you remain enrolled at the university and attend classes on campus. If you decide not to attend the university, you may cancel your contract before May 1 to avoid a $300 cancellation fee.

I see, thanks!
