UT Austin Housing Application Question

My son is auto admit. We submitted a housing application + $50 application fee on Nov 7. He just found out last Friday that he was admitted to his first choice major and was given the option to accept enrollment and pay the enrollment deposit. We are not certain yet if he will enroll at UT, but we want to be prepared with a housing option if he does.

UT housing says, “Housing contract notifications are sent out via email in housing application date order.” So is he “in line” for a housing contract at this point, or do we have to pay the enrollment deposit to get a place in line? I know we’ll have to accept enrollment and pay the deposit in order to get a contract, but do we need to do that yet?

Thank you for any info/advise!

I got an answer to my question from Housing and Food Service at UT. Sharing their response in case anyone has similar question:

“Since you have submitted the housing application, you have your place in line. We don’t begin offering contracts until March so you still have plenty of time to make up your mind.”
